Hi, I’m Olenka, and I’m really pleased to meet you here…

I’ve always wanted to help people, but I never quite knew how until I began my own journey into counselling in my 40s.

I turned to counselling to help me navigate my own journey of different paths, twists and experiences, which resulted in positive and life-changing transformations and improvements in my life.

Life can often throw us off track. Even positive life transitions, such as having a baby, can create a sense of overwhelm and stress. Experiencing feelings of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and hopelessness can leave you feeling not really sure of who you are.

The skills I learnt through counselling have given me the ability to understand who I am, my behaviours and talk about my feelings. As I saw myself change and develop, I made the decision to train to become a counsellor so that I could help others to do the same.

I then spent four years training and combined my natural empathy and compassion with people to create an integrative, confidential and non-judgemental practice.

Learning to identify, acknowledge and talk about your feelings can give you the freedom to really take control of your life and deal with any life challenges in a more positive and proactive way.

I provide the space and opportunity for my clients to explore their emotions and feelings, using a variety of approaches and techniques, depending on what is most suitable.

We really are the experts of ourselves. I want to help each of my clients to celebrate their unique individuality and the differences that make them so special, enabling them to be their very best selves and create the life that they want.

Qualifications

I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor and have also worked in both the corporate and the public sector, which has provided me with a diversity of knowledge and skills.

I work with various EAPs as an Associate Counsellor, including BetterHelp www.betterhelp.com/olenka-hennessey/

I am also a Bupa recognised Counsellor and can be found https://finder.bupa.co.uk/consultant/view/305662

I have worked with children, parents and carers with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND). This has greatly supported my counselling skills, enhancing my ability to take the time to listen without judgment, creating a safe space for my clients to accept their experiences as they have experienced them and feel heard and understood.

I am a Young Person’s Counsellor and I have also worked as a School Counsellor at a local secondary school and a Counsellor for a local charity counselling agency.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I fully adhere to the code of ethics, which include confidentiality and respect (unless a safeguarding issue is presented).

I undertake continuous professional development to ensure my skills and knowledge are up to date. Most recently by completing a Mental Health First Aider certificate and both online and telephone counselling training.
